Tour de Yorkshire a Fantastic Success - Again!
It was a delight to experience the thrills of one of the biggest road cycle races in the country last weekend, when Le Tour de Yorkshire built on it's success in 2015 with yet another wonderful event - showcasing all that Yorkshire has to offer.
As with the event's first year, part of the route brought the riders right past our front door - down Coach Road and then into Whitby before heading back down the coast to finish the final stage in Scarborough.
It's not often you can simply step out of your front door and experience the excitement of a world-class field of athletes competing at the top of their game!
Here are the highlights:
And for us, it's no wonder the event is such a success. What could be better than tearing through the wonderful Yorkshire countryside, taking in some of the most breathtaking views and scenery our picturesque county has to offer.
Of course, the riders don't get to stop and enjoy the wonderful vistas that the route of Le Tour de Yorkshire passes through - but there's no reason you can't!
It's possible to ride the entire route all year round - with it being all on public roads. But perhaps that would be a bit much for most of us. However, you may wish to enjoy part of the route - or even just enjoy a ride along the cinder track to Robin Hood's Bay for a pub lunch!
Yorkshire really is a wonderful county for walking, cycling and even more adventurous sports such as sailing and climbing.
Whatever draws you to Yorkshire, you're certain not to go home disappointed!
